Slices of time and space in my world

I don't have the foggiest idea as to what the purpose of this blog will be. So I will muddle along and see where it takes me. If you are bored enough to take this journey with me, then I pity you and welcome you all at once.

Ugh. I am so sick of this weather. What happened to summer? I’m glad I didn’t pay for a beach pass, because there have been so few sunny days so far that it would have been a total rip off. I’ve never seen anything like it. This is why I don’t like winter - everything is gray and dull and depressing. Literally. Days like this really get me down, and I have to make a concerted effort to not let them affect me. I’ve become much better at getting outside during the day in the winter on sunny days (I actually don’t mind the cold and I really like snow) to make sure I don’t get the blues that usually hits me in late November/early December. To overcome it I even use light therapy during the colder, darker months. But I shouldn’t have to do any of that stuff in late June!

It’s almost time for me to say goodbye to another home. It makes me sad to leave this place, even though I know it’s time to move on. I can’t say it’s been the easiest period of my life, but it’s definitely been an important one. I did a lot of healing and learning here in Westerly, but I’ve also managed to have some fun and make new friends along the way. Now I’m starting a brand new chapter, and hopefully it will be a happy one. Wish me luck!

P.S. If you know of any great apartments in the Providence area, please let me know. I’ve been searching on craigslist and so far haven’t found what I’m looking for - I need a place that is Jazzy friendly, of course, and that means either a yard or a nearby park in addition to allowing pets. And it doesn’t need to be a big apartment, as I prefer quality materials and design to a large ugly space. As far as options: a garage would be fantastic, and if I allow myself to get greedy then a jacuzzi and fireplace would also help me through another New England winter. Oh, and it has to be somewhat inexpensive too. Not much to ask, right?

It’s a baby barrage! Less than a day after Nickolas was born, my best friend Jf and his wife Noreen welcomed Anna Catherine into the world. She’s another good-sized baby, weighing in at 8 lbs and 20 inches long and is, of course, beautiful. And as her honorary uncle, I am saying that without a touch of bias. The entire family is doing very well, and as I write this young Anna should already have been welcomed home by her big sister Sylvia. Baby Nickolas is also scheduled to go home today, so it’s a happy day that will likely be happily followed by a somewhat sleepless night for all those concerned.

Once again I’m a proud uncle! Meet Nickolas, who was born last night at 9:52 p.m. in Putnam. He weighed it at 8 lbs. 13 oz. and is 21" long. As you can see in the photo, Adam is a very proud papa already, and Lia is recovering well after a trying birthday for the little fella yesterday - they are quite the happy little family. Nick is definitely curious about this big world we live in, as he was looking all around the room and up at me when I was holding him. He is, of course, absolutely adorable - as you can see for yourself in this video...
