Slices of time and space in my world

I don't have the foggiest idea as to what the purpose of this blog will be. So I will muddle along and see where it takes me. If you are bored enough to take this journey with me, then I pity you and welcome you all at once.

Greetings from Florida! As you can probably tell from the photo, I'm on holiday (as the Brits say) and enjoying the beautiful weather (sorry, don't mean to rub it in). It's a short vacation, but it's been very relaxing, which is exactly what I needed. I'm feeling much more chipper and smiling quite a bit. I must admit, however, to crying for a while last night. Don't worry, it was only because I was reading the end of Marley & Me, and anyone that doesn't cry at the end of that book is a soulless monster (okay, perhaps that's way harsh). It's a delightful book and a must-read for anyone that loves dogs or even likes them a little. Yes, it's very sad when the inevitable happens, but that's not what will make you cry. It's the heartfelt expression of love for an animal that will make the tears well up. But through those bleary eyes you will also see life more clearly and revel in the beautiful simplicity of a dog's journey. I expected it to be a great read, but for some reason I didn't count on the life lesson. It just puts everything in perspective, kind of like a canine Tuesdays with Morrie. I give it my highest recommendation. Just don't read the end in public, and don't forget your tissues. Oh, and make sure your beloved doggy isn't 1,000 miles away when you want to hug her. Well, I need to get some breakfast so I have energy for another grueling day at the beach. Cheerio! (yeah, I know two British expressions is at least one too many for a blog entry).
