Slices of time and space in my world

I don't have the foggiest idea as to what the purpose of this blog will be. So I will muddle along and see where it takes me. If you are bored enough to take this journey with me, then I pity you and welcome you all at once.

Like everyone else, I get a fair amount of spam. Fortunately it’s confined to one email account and the Yahoo filter does a decent job of moving them off to the Junk folder for me. This morning, as I was still reveling in last night’s Formula One qualifying, I checked my email and found this. While these days I spend all my online searching time looking for jobs on Careerbuilder, it’s good to know when I eventually decide to shift my focus to my (lack of a) personal life that there’s a site like this one available. It reminds me of a dream I had last week that combined a radio and TV commercial. The radio commercial was for a sort of dining club for older people that I hear on WEEI, and the TV ad was for the Scooter Store. In my imaginary amalgam, a guys shows up at the dinner “date” and presents a lady with a scooter. Free of charge, of course!  Now what could possibly be more romantic than that?

There’s something wrong with Jasmine, and it’s all my fault. Whenever I go anywhere lately she just isn’t reacting well. I can be gone for only a half an hour and she freaks out and pulls her blanket off the couch and goes upstairs to toss her bed and blankets around the bedroom. Since it’s been getting worse lately I decided to look it up and have diagnosed her with Canine Separation Anxiety. I guess it’s not surprising because I’ve been around so much that she's just not used to me being away from home at all. Fortunately, she doesn’t exhibit the worst of the symptoms - she’s still too much of a lady for that. But from what I’ve read she’s suffering when I’m not home, and that just won’t do. So I’m following the guidelines and beginning treatment of my pup. I have to refrain from showing her too much attention (guilty) and from scolding her when she does react to me leaving (guilty again). I am also going to ask the vet for some anti-anxiety meds when she goes in for her rabies shot next month to help the adjustment process. Let’s hope it doesn’t take long for her to feel better.

Here are some pics from the Jazzyfriends tour. On Friday, Jasmine met up with her sister Bailey on the farm for a rousing game of fetch. Poor Bails hasn’t played this game in a while, apparently, because she was huffing and puffing and chomping snow straight away. On Saturday, Jazzy took a trip up to Richmond to see our old neighbors. Sure, the pups look like they’ve been punished in this pic, but in reality they enjoyed the hot and sunny day in Anney and Bella’s giant new backyard. On Sunday it was off to Moosup, where Molly is always ready to give Jazzy a million worshipful kisses. It was another beautiful day, and they bounded about outside and on the trampoline-like poor cover. Ernie soon showed up to join in the fun, though he remained ever watchful of Jazzy’s dangerous tail. Good times.

Woohoo! The F1 team formerly known as Honda has been reborn! All winter long I’ve been worried that the team would not find a buyer after Honda decided to leave the sport. After many twists and turns and rumors that went nowhere, it seems to have ended well. Ross Brawn has managed a buyout of the team, which will be called BrawnGP. Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello will continue as the drivers, though for a while there it looked like Bruno Senna (nephew of the late, great Ayrton) was going replace Rubens in the second seat. And instead of the lame Honda engines they had last year, they’ve secured a supply of Mercedes powerplants for this season. The team had the first shakedown (a really short test to make sure things are working) of the car today at Silverstone in England and will head to Spain for a full three-day test on Monday. I had high hopes for this season, but since the other teams have been testing and refining their cars for a couple of months now I have to be realistic. BrawnGP is likely to be scraping in the midfield at best. Still, it’s sure to be an interesting year with all the rule changes (notice the very wide front wing and the tall, narrow rear wing - oh, and despite this photo slick tires are back!) we could see some surprises. Red Bull and Toyota have looked strong in testing so far, as have Ferrari, BMW and Renault at times. And McLaren are sure to be in the mix despite their form so far. It seems wide open, and we won’t really know until the excitement begins and the red lights go out in Melbourne, Australia on the 29th.
